Whats Does 3g Mean When It Comes To Phones?

A 3G phone (Third generation) is able to take advantage of faster download speeds than previous generation phones (2.5g/2g). 3G allows for phone download speeds of up to 14 Mb/s, much faster than the previous standard 2.5g.
3G will allow your phone to access content that a 2G phone would not be designed for. For example, it will allow you to quickly and seamlessly download music, surf the web, check email, etc. Whilst all this is possible in 2G, because of download speed limits it is not exactly viable.

3G or “third generation” is terminology used mainly by marketing and sales departments within carriers to describe the rate that information can be down loaded /uploaded from your mobile handset. (cell phone).
Mobile phone use either GSM or CDMA technology and both are just as good as each other.
If you want a cell phone just to talk (?Voice Transmission?), then 2G or 3G is fine to use. However if you want a cell phone to send and receive photos and down load e-mails (?Data transmission?) then you need greater speeds of down load to gain the benefits.
3G is sort of like ADSL broadband compared to dial up for internet.

3G refers to the third generation of developments in wireless technology, especially mobile communications. The third generation, as its name suggests, follows the first generation (1G) and second generation (2G) in wireless communications.

The mobile internet connection is able to handle speeds of 3G. This is because it uses UMTS. Another name for 3G is also EDGE network. The old network (2G) uses GSM technology. 3G is basically around what DSL speeds are, but under T1.

3G stands for 3rd Generation/Edition/Version. It’s basically the third release. iPod does it as well, 3G Nano. 3rd Generation iPod Nano.

3G networks are wide-area cellular telephone networks that evolved to incorporate high-speed Internet access and video telephony.
